Hi all computerchess enthusiasts
I am playing a round robin (25rds) engine tournament with the top 5 .
most intresting might be:
each engine
6 cpu
ponder
on
timecontrol
20+5
expected tournament time 8 - 10 days.
More informations and link for live transmission can be found here:
http://www.clemens-keck.de/base.htm
games with too high score when out of book will be repeated and possition will be deleted in book.
enjoy
best regards, Clemens Keck

Thx for playing and sharing this nice tournament
* isn't the current game Houdini - Stockfish an example of too high a score right out of the opening ? IMO it is

Hello Bram
yes this game will be repeated during the tournament. So far I got 2 games with clear book loss in 27 games. I tried to avoid this by using the book before in 200 test games. But it is hard to avoid at all.
Kind regards, Clemens

Well, one big blunder by Critter, and I checked, Critter really likes - for a long time - that
losing move 137. Bxb5???
By the way, Clemens, how do you make sure, in that tournament with an uneven number of participants (5), that the
same opening is used for A (White)- B (Black) and then A (Black)- B (White)?

I was also courios. A quick analysis with Fritz 12 below.
Bxb5 was the first suggestion of Fritz 12 some time. F12 realizes quickly
that this move is loosing (eval -5 pawns) and gives following alternatives:
8/p3k3/2p5/Pn1pK3/1P1Pp2P/8/4B3/8 w - - 0 1
Analysis by Fritz 12:
1. = (-0.24): 137.Bf1 Nc3 138.Kf4 Kf6 139.Ke3 Kg6 140.Ba6 Na2 141.Be2 Nxb4 142.Kd2 Kf5 143.h5 c5 144.h6 Kg6 145.dxc5 Kxh6 146.Bb5 a6 147.Kc3 Na2+
2. -/+ (-0.94): 137.h5 Kf7 138.Bg4 Kg7 139.Be2 Kh6 140.Bg4 Nc3 141.Kd6 e3 142.Kxc6 Kg5 143.Bf3 Kf4 144.h6 Kxf3 145.h7 e2 146.h8Q e1Q 147.Qf6+ Ke3 148.Qe7+ Kd2 149.Qxe1+ Kxe1 150.Kb7 Nb5 151.Ka6
(, 02.08.2011)
Whether Bf1 is the only drawing move, is the subject of deeper analysis.

Hello Ernest
I do not play same opening with white and with black on same opponents.
This is a tournament play, and no ratinglist play. At the end, each engine has played 100 games and it looks for a wide range of openings. So it is "fair" enough (to all participants.
I looked at the anotations, and in 93 games I found only 4 games yet, which must be repeated manually at the end of the tour(book fault, gui fault).

Hi all
the shortest win in the tournament yet:
46 Moves to mate, only 3(unusual) book moves
I have a "feeling" , that Stockfish might do better in this tour with a higher Split Depth , maybe SD5 or even higher. But I do not change during the tour.

Well, one big blunder by Critter, and I checked, Critter really likes - for a long time - that
losing move 137. Bxb5???
Strange.. I can not reproduce this. But look at the evaluations in the PGN:
Code: Select all
134. Nf5 {-0.07/24 4 (Sh5)} Bxf5 {0.00/29 6} 135. Kxf5 {-300.
02/24 4} Ke7 {0.00/34 3 (Sb5)} 136. Ke5 {-300.02/23 10 (Lf1)} Nb5 {0.00/35 7}
137. Bxb5 {-0.18/23 2 (Lf1)} cxb5 {-3.35/23 0} 138. Kf4 {-1.75/25 3} Kf6 {-15.
07/33 3 (Kf7)}
something weird happened at move 135 - white's eval jumped from -0.07 to -300 ???
Right now I am too tired to analyse, but tomorrow I will go through the critical moves. But I suspect this is some nasty bug showing up

Hi Richard,
In infinite analysis (tried 2 threads and 1 thread, PGN of whole game or epd of the position), everytime Critter stays a long time with 137. Bxb5?
Code: Select all
8/p3k3/2p5/Pn1pK3/1P1Pp2P/8/4B3/8 w - - 0 1
