hello from new member + countrychess

Post by countrychess »

Hello all,
My name is Geert, I am new to talkchess. I live in Belgium, work as teacher and musician and I am visually impaired.

I started my project Countrychess in July, just another way of approaching engine tournaments. In a few words: I create tournaments with engines from the same country. For my test tourney, I only make use of freeware engines with an elorating +2000, consulting ccrl, cegt, chesswar, wbec ridderkerk etc.
at the moment there's a tournament running with 26 country winners. Engines ranked 1-13 will face the strongest available freeware country winners in the champions league.

I use an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz, Win7 x64 Home, 8 GB Ram.
Further more: 3, 4 and 5-men egtb, Nalimov and Gaviota. Time control for the games = 30'+5.
Engines: always x64 version if available and 6 cores if the program supports this. Ponder= off; hash =128 mb.

You can find all standings and games in pgn at http://www.countrychess.bloggen.be

How can I copy tables in html to this forum? At the moment they are more or less unreadable :-).

Thanks,
Geert

Welcome Geert!

This is an interesting format. There was a tournament like this called the Winboard Olympic Chess Tournament, but it appears to be dormant. So I think this is an welcomed addition to the other tournaments.

About the crosstables, I do not know an easy way to copy them to the forum while maintaining readability. Hopefully somebody will provide some information.

Welcome Geert!
I too, am into chess and music (even more so). Although other life details may be different. I wonder how often chess and music come together in one person, compared to other combinations. Is it just coincidence? Or is it just the same, like carpentry and barber, or antique historian with dentistry, or skiing with accountancy?
