Critter 1.4 32-bit vs Komodo 4-c2 32-bit
As you look at these results, I want you to keep 2 things in mind that are extremely important:
1. Critter 1.4 32-bit has for all practical purposes caught Houdini 2.0c
2. Komodo 4-c2 32-bit is without doubt worth TWICE what it sells for.
And that does not take into consideration that Don and Larry say the 64-bit version with its speed increase will fare much better against 64bit engines than the 32bit version does in its class. Tho this 32bit version is far far from weak. Try the new Stockfish, Rybka 4.1, and the latest Shredder, Hiarcs, Junior, Chiron, Naum, Fritz, Ktulu, SmarThink ag. this Critter version. They will fare no better. Only some of the Ivanhoe's can keep it from being a runaway. So if any commercial programs were bought according to how they did ag. Critter- Houdini would be the only one anyone bought. And Houdini, tho original enough, can thank the Ivanhoes for getting its start. Anyway, here you go:
1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games
Critter 1.4 32-bit...........+92........+19/-6/=25........63.00%......31.5/50
Komodo 4-c2 32-bit........-92........+6/-19/=25........37.00%......18.5/50
From what I can tell, it looks as if Critter has caught up to Houdini in 32bit.
Other than the Ivanhoes, I have no clue who might catch them. I would personally think, tho we have some extremely smart programmers, in the end it would take Vas to do it. I just don't think anyone else can.
