MinkoChess 1.3 running for the IPON ...

Post by IWB »

... here: http://www.inwoba.de

This is the successor of Umko 1.2 rated 2655 in the IPON. To get a Top 20 position it has to reach 2679 or better.

Have fun

_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

Right now it is stopped. I'll wait a bit for a SSE version. If not I will run it with x64 only (which isnt that bad)

Very interesting !
STS test gives v1.3 a bit weaker than v1.2 and usualy reflect the correct strength of play. 1st counter-example !

The CEGT had about 50Elo+ after 800 games ...

That is always the case with position test. They are optimized until they give a certain picture which fits into reality. After a while they fail because of new engines, get adapted to real life, fail, adapted ... they always follow the expectations. I watch this for years (12+ at least) and it always comes true sooner or later.
But I agree, position test are tempting. They are easy and fast and give a result which is correct - in the beginning. Of course the expectiation is that THIS test is better than all others before and will be true forever ... :-)

In fact, STS emphasizes positional factors. So, I suppose v1.3 was optimize for tactics !
