Critter 1.6 gauntlets

Post by Hugo »

Hooray for Critter 1.6

I am running some gauntlets (1900 games) with Critter 1.6.
5+3, ponder on, 1cpu for my privat rating list "The Base".
You can follow the resultstable. Update every 120sec.

All lists will be updated after that.

Hi all

the gauntlets are all done. 2000 new games added to my private list "The Base"
I could meassure a small plus of 8 points.
But engine can handle large pages now which might give critter 1.6 another few points.

Don't know about 64bit, as all my cores are busy. But I ran Critter 1.6 32-bit against Houdini 2.0c x32 and a close match, but after watching a number of the games- I will go out on a limb and say I see no difference- hence the 6 elo he mentioned. Not enough to notice it in game play.

I shall see soon in 64-bit, but in 32bit I am afraid that Critter probably falls slightly behind Houdini again. I am not sure what it would take to be "better than" Houdini. Strelka quite possibly holds the key. Problem is that I promise you Robert is sitting on a big elo improvement- and you can bet he will play his cards last. When that happens, it may take Vas to stop him. I just don't know- but it is a huge mistake to underestimate Robert and what he can do.
