Phhht, Cupcake. Three losses, two wins and two draws is not what you call a sprint for the finish line.

Tied for 9-10 with Predateur. We have work to do. Watch out, Julien, we're coming to get you.

I was quite proud of your engine. You have done very well with it in a short time.

Well, thanks, George. I suppose it's not bad considering that back in March I had never written a single line of code in Java. Of course I took frequent looks at Bruja but I copied very little. When you have a fresh slate you fix the little things that have been nagging you. So I changed the board numbering from a1, b1, ... h8 to a1, a2, ... h8 so I could speed up move generation by a tad. Then I changed the piece values to a scheme that let me test for sliders with a single bit. Then I changed black from 8 to 1 so I could rearrange arrays for no reason other than I liked it better. And so on and so on.

Thanks for including Cupcake in your tournament.

Dan, I bet that Cupcake will beat me. :) I will try a game against it this week schedule permitting. Engines at this level still give interesting games, and if I survive intact to the endgame you never know. My best chance is to get the engines when they are new.

I also think Dabbaba and Clueless did pretty good here, interesting tournament.

Hi Mark,

It beats me but that's not saying much. But, yes, I welcome your comments. If you have a chance fiddle around with the personality feature. I included that specifically for human play (and on the off-chance someone might help me tune the evaluation which presently has values pulled out of my, err, the air.)
