Under 1600 - Section C; Fun Tournament

I just recently purchased Chessmaster 11, Grandmaster Edition, and I was pleasantly surprised with the performance. Also I noticed that the winboard engines played well in this gui, and in fact they played better in this latest Chessmaster than in Arena or Fritz. The previous editions of Chessmaster would support winboard engines, but I couldn’t get them to play very well. So programs that I considered more lowly rated because of other gui’s played better here and were tougher for me to beat. I tried out the new version of Sharpchess here and it did well, but the real story was how well the old Fimbulwinter engines did. The under 1600 personalities in Chessmaster 11 played below the given rating slightly from what I could see. Programs I had trouble running on other gui’s ran well here; like DeepTrouble, Alice, Exacto 0d and Dendron. Dendron would lose badly to me in Arena, did a bit better here. I also played Kasparov Gambit personalities in DosBox which weakens it even more, and watching some of their endgames was painful, but I still enjoy the program.

Since the Chess Club I played at broke up when the bookstore closed, I had to get a little practice. I will provide a link for the games in another message. This was a 7 round swiss that took me 2 months. This is very unscientific, I am not a programmer but an engineer.
