Capivara is a quickly developing engine, I was initially surprised by the margin but maybe I shouldn't have been. Anyways well done so far.

What does "Capivara" mean? Or is it a name?

"Capivara", in Brazil, is that amateur chess player will never play well enough to be Master!
"Capivara", literally, is a rodent of the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil, but in this case, does not apply!!

To learn more about the chess engine Capivara, read the following pages:

Thanks, I never would have guessed.
If your engine gets much better in rating to master level, you may have to change the name!!

Before I launch the first version of my engine, which still had no name, I compiled a version that played so poorly that could lose to any "capivara".

Hello Lourenco,

Congrats on your engine progress !

I am also a brazilian chess programmer, my engine is named "tucano" (https://sites.google.com/site/tucanochess/). I just released recently the source code and is competing in 37th amateur tournament of Graham Banks, divison 5. So far so good, :) better than I expected.

Tucano is also an animal from south america and I don't think it has any association with chess :) , I tought of capivara but this name was already taken. I remember seeing capivara a long time ago, the chess engine of course. I'll take another look.
I know that redqueen is also from a brazilian developer. Maybe we can have a brazilian engines tourney someday !

Sucesso !

It is also starting in Group 6 this week of my Mega Freeware Rumble- or Freeware Fumble. I can't remember.

Olá Alcides,

I have followed the chess engine Tucano!
A chess engine ever born strong. Congratulations!

Tucano and Capivara have met in a Test tournament ...

... and there are tournaments between only brasilian engines:

I wish you success at the double!!
