On-line engine tourney January

Post by hgm »

The on-line engine blitz tourney for January will take place on:

Saturday January 18, 3pm Boston time (21:00 Amsterdam time)

This will be a good opportunity to test for CCT, which will be held on the same server! To connect:

winboard -zp -ics -icshost 83.163.204.254 -icshelper timeseal -fcp ENGINE.exe -fd ENGINEFOLDER -autoKibitz

(for UCI engines, add -fUCI)

I would like my program to participate in the tournament, for the first time. You did post winboard command for it, but is there anything else i need to do? What about login/password? Do i need to do something after connecting to join the tournament?

If there is a place where these questions are answered, perhaps you can direct me there.

Thanks.

You will need a registered account for the engine to play in the tourney. (Otherwise the automated tournament manager will not recognize it when it tries to check its rating.) Send me a PM with the desired username (preferably the name of your engine) and your e-mail address, then I can create one.

Very enjoyable tournament, thanks HG.

A respectable result for Zappa Mexico, an engine released in 2007. It played on an AMD Phenom II X6, so decent hardware, but also not very fast by today's standards.

Yeah, I would have liked to play but work wouldn't permit it. I wonder if Nightmare is every going to be made public. I'm more than a little curious to see how it would fare in the ratings lists, it's very strong.

I've tried to follow the tournament with Jin under OSX but couldn't get it to display a GUI version of the games... just the ASCII ones... I've tried board styles 1-12 but to no avail. Anyone knows what I'm missing here?

Or other recommendations to follow FICS-tourneys under OSX?

It's a wonderful engine, there is a copy running on the OICS server 24/7 if you ever want to watch.
