Adaptive Engine for Android

Post by PeterO »

Hello Chessfriends,

I am looking for an engine (or some engines :D :D :D :D ) with adaptive playing style (like DGT centaur) for my android phone.
I am also very interested in android engines with Elo limit strengh - can you give me some links?

Thank you
Peter

Hi Peter, for me Shashchess is the perfect adaptive engine.

It classifies each position with 5 personalities of three former World Chess Champions, Petrosian for negative scores (<-74), a mix of Petrosian & Capablanca for slightly negative (<-31), Capablanca for balanced scores (-31.. +31) , a mix of Capablanca & Tal for slight positive (+31.. +74) and full Tal for positive scores (>+74).

The engine adapt algorithm with various search selectivity thresholds, along with multiple dynamic evaluation score adjustments.

As a result, Shashchess finds more often than stockfish a winning move in balanced positions. And also finds very fast difficult mate with Tal algorithm.

Regards.

Chess.com has some engine personalities with adaptive style. They play a bit stronger when they are losing and weaker when they are winning. They are available in the android app, but using all of them requires paid subscription. Maybe that is somewhat similar DGT Centaur?

If it is fine to adapt engine strength between games, and not during the game, Shredder does it automatically for you (as does the forementioned Chess Dojo).

Droidfish can limit Engine Strength by Elo if the used engine supports it but you have to adjust it manually. It comes with CuckooChess and Stockfish - both support the feature. Additionally you can limit engine speed (nodes/second).

Get this Droidfish modification package from @MikeB for Android

incl. Honey 14 which has an intelligent way to adapt .

Hi purechess,

thank you so much for your answer!
I am VERY MUCH interested in Honey 14. when I follow your link I see some honey.EXE files.
But I dont know what to do!! How can I install honey on my Android 10 device? Sorry if this is a very stupid question - usually I click on a apk-file and install it.
