Question for experience Blitz players vs weak engines?

Post by Chessqueen »

I would like to know what solid opening you use against an engine that is about your own strength, but hardly ever blunder or never tactically. I would like to know what is your recommended solid Opening choice, and weather you build a solid defense or impenetrate position or what? his is if you play game in 3+2 sec increment. By weak engine I meant to say around 1700 to 1800, not near Master level.

Note: There are several recommendations for Solid chess Opening, but not to play it against engines  or against the 1.d4

I am neither an experienced nor a good blitz player, but I think that universal Old Indian/Philidor setup is useful for blitz. It can be played against almost everything, so it's very time saving. Maybe it's too passive for your taste, I don't know, but it's surely solid and correct enough. If the Old Indian was good for Bent Larsen in the past, and if the Philidor is good for Pavel Eljanov and Victor Bologan nowadays, they are certainly even better for me.

Are you saying that this is a solid Opening against most weak engines rated around 1700 to 1800 ? AND

I don't play blitz very much, but I have had pretty good results with it against Komodo 14 skill levels 18 i 19 in rapid 15+10 (level 18 being about my strength at that time control), so I wolud say yes.

Do you know by chance if the formula skill level x 114 can be applied to Komodo 14? Or perhaps skill level x 110?
