Deep mate from Youtube video

Post by MOBMAT »

Grabbed this position
[fen]rn3R2/5Np1/4p3/3NP2p/2p3kP/1P2B3/P4nK1/q7 w - - 0 12 [/fen]

from a game featured in this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0oMNaMNshU
Youtube video

Ran it with latest Dev version of Stockfish all night. It got to 100 ply but didn't find the answer, but I only have 6 threads and 16G of hash.

Good luck

Unfortunately your FEN is missing black pawns from a7 and b7. Try this one and see the difference with Stockfish... :)

Didn't try it with Stockfish. Hiarcs gets it straight away.

Agadmator also did a video about this, and he put the game moves in the description.

Even Myrddin with one core has no trouble with this.

A fairly short analysis with SF 15.1 and Multi-PV = 2 in the position just before 16.- Qxd8+ shows that this was the only move indeed:

This game according to Dragon 3.2 is nothing but a draw after 1,Kg2... Ne4! with proper play at only 3 seconds per move
Note: 24...Kg4? was the blunder according to Dragon and Stockfish, the correct move should have been 24...Nd7! and with proper play either Dragon or Stockfish would have drawn the game easy
