Hi Jouni,

for some years I am thinking, never a program will be in the near of Stockfish or can be stronger as Stockfish.

Stockfish is the most important engine project, over many years now.
Not a secret!

But it's really a sensation how many energy people give the own projects.
PlentyChess or Reckless are good examples.

Have a look on Potential!
https://github.com/ProgramciDusunur/Potential
What for a hard work the programmer must do here ...

Monty is really great ...
https://tests.montychess.org/tests

The programmer wrote me for a while ... Frank, today different things are basics.
I understand him more and more and admire his work.
OK, it seems that he set a lot to the "basics".
With other words, he create new "basics".

1+++++

Or on Stash and so many others!

Thats good!
Keeping computer chess alive!
Most important for me ... I love this hobby!

Agree, seems like Reckless is near Torch strength now. Consistently beating Obsidian and PlentyChess on my machine (R9 7950X) running on 8 threads. In a gauntlet against these two using UHO, the latest 0.9.0 dev with the beefy net up ~ 30 elos after 500 pairs each (TC 30s + 0.5s).
It's going to be a very tight TCEC season.

On my 4090, Leela with the same 1024 TCEC net (BT4-it332) is losing to Reckless by 50 elos! I'm a fan of Stefan's testing method for NN engines with 2x time control to compensate for GPU lag, so I used it.
TCEC has way slower TC and much beefier hardware but it is likely that Reckless is going to cause some upsets this season.

Sorry to derail a bit, but how does Torch stack up against Lc0 ?
