Are you sure?Steve B wrote:i think there is a significant difference in the results GMs get Today against the top Engines depending on the first move
as White i think they are still playing close to equal but with the Black pieces its already no contest
i wonder if anyone has recent statistics on that?

(conclusions drawn from wrong facts snipped)They are connected to the bigger machines. Against Kramnik in Bonn, Fritz was running on a quad core (2*Intel Core 2 Duo 5160 with 3 GHz).

ICC should have some stats. In general grandmasters don't seem to care about computers, so there is no hard science for computers being better or better with Black et al.Steve B wrote:sure ..noTerry McCracken wrote:Are you sure?Steve B wrote:i think there is a significant difference in the results GMs get Today against the top Engines depending on the first move

Kasparov showed far better understang of chess then Junior or Fritz ever could regardless of which side of the board he was on.Steve B wrote:how about in recent matchesTerry McCracken wrote:ICC should have some stats. Unfortunately he fouled up a few wins that weren't difficult for him both FritzX 3-D and Junior where he offereded a draw with Black in a winning position.
Kramnik loses with mate in one...hardly interesting...too busy eyeing his girlfriend, now wife, I suppose

I don't count his wins on time as bona fide wins Gerold.gerold wrote: If Pablo can draw and beat top computers, looks like the computers

Hi all!
In my opinion we can state that machines are better when they are better at all time controls (correspondence chess included), and the difference is bigger with longer time.
I think we haven't reached this point yet...
