I thought that Pocket Fritz did not perform well in the tournament after seeing that it has only score of 4/7 and may even miss the GM norm if it does not score at least 2.5/3 in the last 3 rounds.

I asked myself if it is even better than pocket fritz2 until I read that
Pocket Fritz 2 claims to have an estimated blitz performance rating of 2450 Elo points.

Based on my knowledge even fritz3 on p90 was better than 2450 in blitz and shared first place with kasparov in a blitz tournament in 1994 so I wonder if Pocket Fritz2 is really so weak and is even weaker than fritz3 on p90 or maybe humans got better since 1994.

I would guess that even PocketFritz2 is now much better than 2450elo when run on the much faster PPC's of today. When this tournament finishes I will look thru the games of PF3 to see how it compares to PF2.
Does anyone know what the time controls are used in this tournament?

In that case what is the reason that chessbase claim that it is only 2450 in blitz.

I can expect chessbase not to be objective and give higher rating than the real rating but not lower rating.

I own the original PocketFritz2 and bought it at the end of 2002.And on the back of the CD case it mentions the same blurb as in on the ChessCase website, in particular it states that it has an estimated blitz rating of 2450 Elo points. This was when the best PPC's in 2002 ran about 15 times slower than the latest ones today.
I should know as my first PPC was an Compaq 3950 with PPC 2002 and an Intel 400mhz xscale processor. This was quite slow at running PF2 but was the best at the time.So what is the Elo improvement if you speed up about 15 times?

Hi
Looking at the way Daniel Fernandez (2447) slaughtered Pocket Fritz 3, I think I will stay with ChessGenius.

The above position is from PocketFritz3 vs Daniel Fernandez.Here Black played Rxh2!! and went on to win after 2 bxc6 Rdh8! 3 cxd7+ Kd8 4 Bh6 R8xh6 5 Qxb6+ axb6 6 Bg2 Rxg2+ 7 Kf1 Rh1#.
I decided to test some PDA programs and got the following.
Hiarcs 9.6 Rxh2!! in 8 seconds.
Chess Genius Rxh2!! in 24 seconds.
PocketFritz2 in 116 seconds.
Togall 1.2.1a in 480 seconds.
The play of PF3 in the game seemed a bit weak in parts, especially when it played it's King to g2 previously for no reason. Also in another game that it lost it allowed a mate in 1 when it was easily avoidable but I must say that it was in a difficult position. So far this tournament must be a bit of a headache for ChessBase as I have not seen any big improvement over the current PDA chess programs and anything it seems alot worse.

I think that you test the wrong position and it is possible that Pocket Fritz3 could also find Rxh2

The right question for comparison with Pocket Fritz3 is how much time do your pocket pc needs to avoid the blunder that allowed Rxh2

No doubt it could find it with time as on the previous move it had to play Bc4-f1 to defend against an eventual Qh3 so by that stage the game was lost. But in the following position it comes up with the big blunder g4?? when playing D Lemos.
[D]2r1r2k/p4ppB/1pn2q2/1R1p4/3P1B2/2P2bP1/P1Q2P1P/4R1K1 w - - 0 1
When all the other PDA programs see 1Rxe8+ Rxe8 2Bd3 Re1+ 3Bf1 g5! with advantage to Black. Both games it lost so far seem to involve weak square complex around its King.
