Steve B, what Swami apparently meant was that the process of elections is greater than the individuals and he will respect the decision.
I agree that the choice of words left an ambiguity to suggest that he did not care either way- whether or not he got elected- showing disrespect to the elections- but in truth, what he meant was that if he gets elected, he will discharge his duties to the best of his ability, but even if he does not get elected, he will not loose sleep over it.
