It's just that I can't find any sensible reason in leaving because one lost the election.
Well, my point again; Steve has his reasons... You, me and lot of others are in the dark, except from what may have been reading of public stuff, or what might have sent to us for personal reasons.

Steve is very privileged; if I left probalbly nobody would care enough to ask why - or even recognize ;)

If you make announcements like he did, then people would definitely ask you, wouldn't they?

I know you wouldn't leave, just giving you an example. You are a respected member :)

Many thanks, Steve. Regarding your decision, all I can say is that I hope you reconsider. I remember your being upset to the extreme some while back when a post of yours was moderated, and you posted that it made you feel like leaving. I don't know if you still feel that way about this in general, but know that I have been moderated more than once, and am not above being moderated even while being a moderator.

Some may think this is more a theoretical reality than a genuine one, but know for example that if Graham or I am involved in a discussion (thread) where moderating is to be considered, to avoid a conflict of interest we will ask the other to look at the thread and moderate as seen fit, including our own replies. Seriously.

During the nomination and election process, one got the feeling that you thought we had a number of special powers, other than the obvious ones. We don't. We can activate or deactivate an account (banning power), don't have the power to delete an account (so you must have requested this from Quentin), have access to the special moderator forum, and can lock/move/delete posts or threads. In other words, nothing you wouldn't expect.

In any case, your presence in CCC has been a fruitful and enjoyable one, and I hope to see you post here again. Still, I can sympathize. I felt despair too after the last US presidential elections, though defecting seemed a little extreme.

Peace,

Albert

Steve is well aware of what mods can and can't do. He is in fact a moderator himself on the Hiarcs forum.

Hiarcs aside, Steve asked many question to the moderation abillitites of the moderators in CCC, Graham was the target of these questions.

If he (Steve) is so aware the powers/limitations that the software provides, why ask in the first place?
Seems fair to me to ask when unknowing. We should ! But if we know the answers to the questions, it's a lot better to just provide them.

Sorry Sam, it just doesn't make sence.

It makes perfect sense if his purpose in asking such questions is to cast a cloud of doubt and suspicion around people with whom he strongly disagrees--people he would like to see replaced. I think the extreme reaction to the election results here speaks for itself in that regard.
