Gambit Tiger 2007.1 with SelSafety 7 Re: Nice position
I'm playing around a bit with my new ChessTiger and even trying to learn her some new tricks. 
Although officially there are no settings possible for Tiger other than the Normal, Gambit, Gambit Aggressive and Gambit Suicidal settings and of course the Anti-Human option, I found that I could also vary the the SelSafety settings a bit in CT.ini. I also tried MoreSel and NSEW but could not find any differences in moves or nodecounts so far. But SelSafety makes a bit of a difference in moves. I have to shut down Chess Tiger and then make some changes in CT.ini or the changes will be reversed in CT.ini when Chess Tiger closes down. But at the moment the changes seem permanent. The changes probably make ChessTiger not any stronger but it is nice to have something slightly different! Default is SelSafety=6, SelSafety=5 is a possibility but at the moment I have the parameter at SelSafety=7 in Gambit Tiger 2007.1. I also got Chess Tiger UCI running under the Shredder UCI interface, with the new settings. Look at the depths that Chess Tiger is getting on my not so fast Athlon 2009 MHz, with SelSafety 7 I have the impression it sometimes is getting slightly deeper even than the default does, at late plies!:

With SelSafety=5 the solution is found after 4 min 25 seconds.
I like the other move chosen first by Gambit Tiger in the "new" SelSafety 7 settings, 1.Bg7, but to be honest, I do not understand the position, I don't understand what could possibly make the difference between 1.Bh8 and a move like 1.Bg7, I suppose there is a subtle difference and this is some complicated endgamestudy but I also could not find a reference to the source of the position yet. Too difficult for me
Another testposition, this is Gambit Tiger 2007.1 in Ferret- Gandalf, SelSafety 6 and 7 are equally quick to find 43. e5 or 43. Nf5, -and very quick they are!-, but there is a difference at 22 ply, SelSafety 6 failing low quicker but taking a long time to resolve so no clear advantage there.

Although officially there are no settings possible for Tiger other than the Normal, Gambit, Gambit Aggressive and Gambit Suicidal settings and of course the Anti-Human option, I found that I could also vary the the SelSafety settings a bit in CT.ini. I also tried MoreSel and NSEW but could not find any differences in moves or nodecounts so far. But SelSafety makes a bit of a difference in moves. I have to shut down Chess Tiger and then make some changes in CT.ini or the changes will be reversed in CT.ini when Chess Tiger closes down. But at the moment the changes seem permanent. The changes probably make ChessTiger not any stronger but it is nice to have something slightly different! Default is SelSafety=6, SelSafety=5 is a possibility but at the moment I have the parameter at SelSafety=7 in Gambit Tiger 2007.1. I also got Chess Tiger UCI running under the Shredder UCI interface, with the new settings. Look at the depths that Chess Tiger is getting on my not so fast Athlon 2009 MHz, with SelSafety 7 I have the impression it sometimes is getting slightly deeper even than the default does, at late plies!:k7/8/4p3/7P/8/3P4/1Bb4P/K7 w - -

I like the other move chosen first by Gambit Tiger in the "new" SelSafety 7 settings, 1.Bg7, but to be honest, I do not understand the position, I don't understand what could possibly make the difference between 1.Bh8 and a move like 1.Bg7, I suppose there is a subtle difference and this is some complicated endgamestudy but I also could not find a reference to the source of the position yet. Too difficult for me
Another testposition, this is Gambit Tiger 2007.1 in Ferret- Gandalf, SelSafety 6 and 7 are equally quick to find 43. e5 or 43. Nf5, -and very quick they are!-, but there is a difference at 22 ply, SelSafety 6 failing low quicker but taking a long time to resolve so no clear advantage there.
