Rybka has BPPP v B (opposite coloured bishops), but kibitzers are arguing over whether or not there's a win.

It's dead drawn. Rybka blundered by allowing the rooks to trade off.
Would you be able to post the position Richard?

Drat, I'll have to fire up Playchess again :)

Black cant make the white king move, and white's bishop keeps the black king out.

Yes, Zappa can't lose the match now only win it. The funny part is Zappa only needs a Draw to win it. Great Job Erdo and Anthony!

Yes - the credit is definitely Erdo's also.

Draw agreed.. Poor endgame by Rybka. 71..f4 probably the mistake.

Too bad for Rybka, but great for computer chess!

Good job Anthony&Erdo!

Rybka made an amazing blunder playing 71...f4? and making the game a draw! It was outplaying Zappa all game long, and in the endgame managed to turn the good position to a win and suddenly played this stupid move so lost the half point.

Rybka played 71...f4? here losing the win:
[d]7B/5k2/4p3/5pR1/4r1p1/8/3Kb3/8 b - - 0 71
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Yes George,

That's how I felt also. I have seen the human side of chess in this match and it came from Computers .... 8-)

Yes Rybka went wrong with f4 ... there must have been a zillion ways to win this game ... all Rybka had to do is avoid a rook trade and keep white king out of the queening area ... then look for tactical opportunities to gain tempi. In many situations black can leave a piece hanging and not worry about it being taken due to an active pawn push. The only way that white can draw that is if rooks are off since then the king can get in the action. I tried this on my Quad against my version of Zappa Mexico and it was a very simple win. Rybka still needs some elementary endgame knowledge ... but man it plays a mean assed middle game. It is really impressive in this game how Rybka took control of the d file and punished Zappa for neglecting the d file. Rybka just needs a little more work in the endgame.
