Is Zappa the new world champion 2007?

First of all, congrats to the Zappa team. The match was very entertaining to watch. To me it was much more entertaining then the human championship.

But I have the question. The people from Convekta mentioned on the Rybka forum that this is 'MEXICO 2007 World Chess Championship'.
If that's correct, then Zappa is the new world champion 2007. Am I right?

Also did FIDE mentioned this match at all? They claimed that it was sanctioned by FIDE, but it doesn't look that way.

If you mean computer world champion of 2007 then i don't think so, since other programs didn't participate.....

I don't know how much Anthony won, but the Zappa team won $10000.

100000 $ was the proposal of the Rybka team for a Rybka-Junior match.....

Indeed......Zappa did really well. Now all they have to do is win against Rybka when it matters.

On the other hand in 1967, Scotland beat England in football...... so by sheer logic......we won the World Cup as well.

I could get used to this dog eat dog world....

I'm still interested about the FIDE involvment if any. It would have been great if FIDE sanctioned the match but I don't think it did. It probably just gave OK to use the same venue.
Nevertheless I still appreciate Vas's efforts to promote the computer chess and Freestyle tournaments.
It would be nice to, after the ICGA WCCC, we have FIDE organized match between the winner and the best rated program on the rating lists.
