I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.
Subsequently we lost Enrique as well. If someone wishes to use an alias that looks like a real name why bother? Of course, no one should be allowed to use names such as God, Monkey etc. As long as some people are allowed to use aliases, others should be as well regardless of how long they have been members. If the no alias policy were to continue, they should ask everyone who uses an obvious alias to use a real name(at least real looking).swami wrote:I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.
Because of nobody should use an alias issue, we lose 2 valuable members ChrisW and Ed in the forum.
Regards.
Well I'm sure Ed would tell you that it's nice to know who you're talking to.swami wrote:I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.

Ed himself wanted to use an alias for a good reason,he had created it.Graham Banks wrote:Well I'm sure Ed would tell you that it's nice to know who you're talking to.swami wrote:I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.

How would using an alias help in this regard?
Does it make a difference if you know who you are talking to? Gaston admitted to being Chris W, so everyone knew who he was talking to. The account in question was an alias, now that we know the true identity of the person, it no longer matter.Graham Banks wrote:Well I'm sure Ed would tell you that it's nice to know who you're talking to.swami wrote:I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.

If you're prepared to reveal your real name when posting under an alias, then what's the point of using an alias?swami wrote:Ed himself wanted to use an alias for a good reason,he had created it.Graham Banks wrote:Well I'm sure Ed would tell you that it's nice to know who you're talking to.swami wrote:I think everybody should be allowed to use an alias, i think that is more fair. And we want Ed and ChrisW back since they want to use an alias for their own reason that we must respect even if we disagree.Graham Banks wrote:Just giving this a bump to ensure that as many members as possible vote on this.

He would reveal his identity just like ChrisW revealed his real name while posting as Gaston Leferve.I support his wish to remain anonymous.I highly respect both Ed and ChrisW.Their participation matters.
The main point is we miss these valuable members due to alias issues.
ChrisW gave some reason as to why he doesn't want to use an alias,Ed too.Graham Banks wrote: If you're prepared to reveal your real name when posting under an alias, then what's the point of using an alias?
