The size and date on the engine is identical, so I don't think there is a problem there. The issue for me is though, whether any of those ini file options alter the engine's play, compared to if it isn't present

And you're right, I got no email and I think we should have.

I downloaded my version on 02.10.2007 and it came with Zappa.ini file and readme file too. To test affect of missing .ini file, I transferred the Zappa.ini file out of the engine folder and all still seemed to be OK with engine log showing defaults loaded but on second start up of GUI engine caused the GUI to freeze and as this was repeatable it is clear the Zappa.ini file is needed.
Knowing this, it is surprising that anyone supplied with versions that were supplied without the Zappa.ini file were not notified of an update. Has anyone downloaded the file without the .ini file being present since 02.010.2007?

Problem is I don't have a zappa.ini
Create an empty text file from notepad, rename it Zappa.ini and just enter the single string
threads n
where n = the number of threads: 2 for a dual, 4 for a quad for example.

Or download Zappa again, the current version comes with an ini file.
Is this current version an updated engine? And if so, should purchasers of Zappa Mexico get an email notification of this update? I haven't gotten any such notification of an update.

Dave
I dont think it's an update, I bought mine on the day I posted my Zappa crash thread, and it came with an ini file.

Everything that is inside the ini file are the default values. If it isnt present Zappa follows exactly the values presented inside the ini file, unless of course you change them inside UCI options, or let the GUI dictate how much hash the engine uses. From what I can see, the ini file overrides everything if present.

The only problem a saw is that in the Deep Dritz 10 GUI
Zappa don´t make the " Next Best" move.

I just downloaded Zappa Mexico again, and in the supplied zappa_log.txt file, there is this ...

"This version was compiled on Sep 21 2007 at 00:15:25."
