as others pointed out it's probably an interface problem. I too had some problems with winboard/polyglot sending information too quickly.
In case you're using the combination winboard/polyglot (I think Loop is an UCI-engine) there is a nice workaround to solve that issue. Just add the line 'Syncstop = true' to your polyglot.ini file that should solve the problem unless Loop is really slow.

Hi Roman !
THX for the information.
For me it sounds like LEO "only" has to follow your advice ?
So to summarise - Loop is being run in an unsupported environment here. Loop is supported when run directly as UCI. Polyglot is an adaptor which enables a UCI engine to be run as winboard
In the same way, something like Crafty is winboard. People can use wb2uci adaptor to enable it to run as UCI. I'm pretty sure I've seen Bob Hyatt say that he doesn't support Crafty run this way, and indeed he would discourage it.
It would be nice if Loop was in WBEC, but the number of people that run Loop this way is probably very small ? Let's hope Roman's advice works

Well, I guess you need to provide Leo with a proper *.ini file. Leo has to deal with so many different engines I doubt he has the time to figure out what exactly is going wrong if an engine behaves strange.
Probably the best solution would be if you run some tournaments on a similar computer like Leo is using. That includes using the same software (Winboard, Polyglot) and, of course, with ponder=on. Then you should quickly see if the problem is indeed a communication problem.
best regards
Roman
PS: 'Syncstop=true' means that polyglot will put a tiny delay between sending 'stop' and 'setboard fen ....'.

It was actually one, the best quality game loop ever played in a computer tournament ran by a testing group of any sort. Now it is 0. Nice support, Leo has been complaining about the engine even befor it was loop.

Don't forget Olivier, who changed to WB(with ponder on) too.

Does he have any problems with loop. I havent checked his site in a while, he mostly play with amateurs from what I saw last time.

Because of his results i can not imagine, that he has any problems ?!
