Vladmir Kramnik: "I have lent Anand the crown"
Well gee Kramnik, Can you I have your "Crown" tomorrow? I want to be the World Chess Champion for a day! I mean since you are in such a generous mood and all. Thank God you only lent it to him temporarily, otherwise I would not have a chance.

Although a poor choice of words, Kramnik has a point; The only way to truly earn the title is match play, head to head, that has been the correct tradition since the first WCC, long before the FIDE existed. The FIDE has been making poor to bad decisions over the last two decades.AdminX wrote:Well gee Kramnik, Can you I have your "Crown" tomorrow? I want to be the World Chess Champion for a day! Why? Havn't they played each other often? And if so, did one (or both) of them improve so much?mariaclara wrote:![]()

(The truth about me is, that ever since Kasparov gave the crown to Kramnic, I've hardly been following the chess news. I had been been frustrated long enough about the split in world championship organizations, and also lost some interest due to the fact that the top players in thet world just got draws in matches against machiners one after another.)

He isnt the first one to say something similar. When Ronnie Coleman lost the Mr.Olympia for the first time in 2006 to Jay cutler, he said " Jay is just holding it for me until next year". This year, Ronnie placed even worse and got the first spot, and said that he is thinking about quitting.

More like Anand TOOK the crown from you rightfully. Vishy has my respect but Kramnik was always looking to duck GK in a return match.
Just accept it, Vishy was better than you and won the world crown of chess. end of story.
