Longing for the Old CCC board and Forum

Post by bigo »

I wonder if am the only one that misses the old CCC board and format. The modern CCC seeems more boring cause often it seems the same messages are on the board for sometimes four days straight as if there is absolutely no new content. It's possible there are some settings that i need to change but it's present format is unsuitable. I do enjoy however the seperations of interests.

Have you tried using the "View posts since last visit" link as your first action on each visit? This will show you where all the activity has been.

No, unfortunately settings are not the reason. The threads with the most recent activity are always on top. - I made the same observation as you made. Computer chess activitiy in terms of interesting information exchange etc. is clearly on the decline, in general. For a while, other boards which are new or which focus on a spectacular new engine (IOW Rybka) may have more traffic, but I doubt that it will last.

Attempts to bring more chess "itself" into computer chess forums, usually fail.

That numbers like 2950 are replaced by 3050, and one engine name may replace another name on a certain rank once in a while, is just not enough. - And most of the rest has been discussed in depth, more than once among the same group of persons...

When you connect to the board (which should bring you here: http://www.talkchess.com/forum/), it should be the top most link on the far right.

Well if you want to see something interesting that you have never seen before, I guarantee that this mate in 28 moves will catch your eye:
