To tell you the truth, the first time I heard about him was about a year ago when Steve B started talking about him. I dont know much about him either. Also, there arent any players strong enough to attract my interest. May be I am just a player hater.Graham Banks wrote:Not sure. Most American GMs are aggressive though, aren't they?

Actually, Benjamin was the "chess alibi" in the Deep Blue team: http://www.research.ibm.com/deepblue/me ... d.4.6.htmlTony Thomas wrote:To tell you the truth, the first time I heard about him was about a year ago when Steve B started talking about him. I recon his performance against computers should be somewhat better than his rating might suggest.

Re: Game 2 looks drawn
Having white in all eight games as well as a draw being counted as a win, might be a serious psychological and morale undermining for a GM. It's like being a baby.Graham Banks wrote:Yes - it's a draw odds match.Tony Thomas wrote:What do you mean Graham? Does he get 1 point for a draw?
Every draw that Benjamin gets counts as a win.
Benjamin has White in all eight games.
There is no material or time odds.

In fact, I wonder if Yoel Benjamin would even win all eight games if Rybka gave him knight odds.

Rybka has won all her odd chess matches, but they've been decreasing the difficulty. If the trend continues like this, yes, we'll have to try Knight odds...

Human are still strong but it depend the FIDE rating of the human, I would like to see Rybka against a GM over 2750 FIDE and specially against Anand.Ovyron wrote:No, I think that they are as strong as ever (And even probably, stronger.) It's just that chess engines have become too strong.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:Hehehe, the grandmasters are weak nowadays, even in odd games they lose
PS: I believe GM Benjamin is only rated 2575 by FIDE

The matches have been played with handicaps to make up for the rating difference, so either Rybka would also win against top 1 GM, or these handicaps are totally useless (And, I find the former more likely.)pichy wrote:PS: I believe GM Benjamin is only rated 2575 by FIDE
