Best engines for "dumbing down"

Hi Erik,

Heard Delfi is the best engine to dumb down its strength from the original one,atleast better than Chessmaster, thats what I have heard, anyway I still go with the usual way of referring to the rating list and choosing the engine having particular rating or in that range...

I prefer to play weaker engines rather than dumbed down strong engines. Cassandre is good for weaker players

Cassandre is outstanding! So far, she's been the perfect matchup. Dumbing down Deep Sjeng to 1250 has been OK, but I've had a couple of games where it hangs its queen. HIARCS at 1250 is good, too, as is Deep Shredder 11 (which I have set to 1350). Cassandre doesn't seem to make blatantly poor moves - they seem more like moves a novice human might make in error.

try playing against Berry (chessmaster 1068), that hoe doesnt like to give up her pieces.

Maybe I'm just a really weak player but she almost always kicks my ass. Usually I get her in a really ugly spot but then she finds a tactic to grab one of my pieces. Argh, so frustrating. I think part of the problem is that she plays immediately and I usually play her with fast time controls.

If anyone has some tips as to how to beat her, I'd be infinitely grateful. So far my best idea is chess.emrald.net.

Have you tried playing against Lacy? rated 1300 something I have never beaten her and yet I have beaten others rated in the 1600's.
