I had a chessbase CD (few years old) and it claimed that the most modern comps couldn't find the move.
I tried with Rybka (single processor) for a bit and it couldn't find it but didn't run it for too long. Interesting that Fritz found it

Here Fritz 10 as engine in CB gives Nxf7 already at 15/42 and then at 16/41 with a long line

(RWT, 13.01.2008)
Rybka 2.3.2a at 17 is still on the idea with a Q move to e3 or d2 both with .12
Fritz 10 at 17/45 now with +.73 but not a line yet. Rybka unchanged at depth 17.

I know one thing for sure, that Nxf7 is perhaps the first move I would personally think of, as a human. However I would need to examine if the other white pieces can do anything in time.

Re: Apparently comps can't find move 17 (Nxf7) in this game.
One reason programs might have trouble is that 17.Nxf7!? doesn't seem to give more than a modest endgame edge if Black defends better with 19...Ne5!; and other move 17 choices for White also seem to retain a slight White advantage.LRoberts wrote:Haven't tested it extensively...
