There seems to be alot of erroneous information going about from people who cannot roll a ball down a hill so I'd just like to clear a few things up.
I should know.
Firstly Rybka 1.0 Beta 2 x64 is a 64 bit chess engine. You need a 64 bit processor, a 64 bit OS environment and a 64 bit capable GUI to play with the engine.

That statement is inept and completely false. The code inside that engine was originally written by the author of Rybka, Vasik Rajlich.

There is nothing illegal about the engine. The author is credited (as he should be) and the engine is named accordingly.
The engine is the strongest free Rybka 1.0 Beta version including all illegal forks. By this I mean that it is stronger than any previous release of either Rybka 1.0 Beta or any of the Strelka/Belka series of engines.
It IS Rybka.

There is nothing misleading. You were told what it was and also you were given something that you have never played with before.
You can download the engine in the download section of Exactachess. You can find it ironically under a heading marked currently as "new".
The moderators here (if that is what they are) have seen fit to delete what they knew nothing about based on a knee jerk reaction without prior investigation.
The engine Rybka 1.0 Beta 2 x64 should really have been a point of closure to the whole Strelka/Belka nonsense. Instead they cannot see what is in front of their eyes.
You can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

I object. Dont be surprised.
Chris, what you are expecting goes too far. You want the mods judge on a factual and computercheswsw programming level wise. But this exactly is what they cant achieve no matter how hard they tried. The only thing they can do is following the "political" big situation. They react also on the incoming protest messages or such. Of course that level has little to do with what the situation looks like for computer programming experts.
For me the mods have done the artistic achievement by letting stand the neccessary information for everybody who is able to use that program and they still are trying to put their say above the different interests. I personally find this method on a smarter level than what the typical political elefant steps are concerned especially of the American Foreign Policies over the last 5 decades. - Even if it were more or less the interest of a singular mod, with the opinions the other two made clear before, it's again absolutely clear what majority in decision finding they always could reach but ingeniously they let open the door for a still very aggressive and seemingly emotionally enraged position that could be reconsidered slowly in future and for that goal the double strategy looks almost optimal in my eyes. I observe that geberal style for a while now and perhaps it also works for the cases who formerly left in anger.
Of course it's also important that someone makes the points you've now pushed forward. But again, you cannot expect the (political) decision to now allow or tolerate only your view or position. Personally I think that this all is in the best tradition of a general friendliness Vas has brought (back?) into the field.

Well it is very nice from you and Vas to make another free Rybka but why is there no documentation? There is no read.me and no licence. All we know is that it is called Rybka 1.0 Beta 2 x64. You say the author is credited but where? All we have to go on is what you say about it, and Vas is not available now. Don't you have some documentation to show Chris, about what Vas intentions are with this program? Is it so strange that people are a bit wary? I can't test it because it is a 64 bit engine. Maybe you could show us some output for instance, the UCI credits Chris? I mean it's probably a fine engine, thanks, but apparently nobody has tried it yet?

Why would anybody risk it with all the "classy" engine names
also in the Exactachess download section.

Funny Chris, I tried to talk to you online the other day so I could understand where you are coming from with all this. I did not feel like you tried to lead me to water at all. More like throwing water in my face. If you would like to peacefully explain your point to me I am very willing to listen. So far the biggest point I have noticed is that you have proven you can generate a page full of complaints to my email box on a good day.Christopher Conkie wrote: You can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

Well we have at least 11 sophomoric programmers then. I dont think risk comes into the equation at all.Kirk wrote:Why would anybody risk it with all the "classy" engine names

If no one here knows what happened and why yet, they have been living a sheltered life.
To put it quite simply.......Strelka = Rybka.
Thats the only point. Never lose sight of this one important fact.
