in the past, late joins were allowed. Even in real life tourneys, we have rules like getting 1/2 a point for not attending the particular day due to some other reason, and you have to inform the arbiter about it before the start of the tournament.Uri Blass wrote:Is this a serious tournament?

5 Naum, (5) 0:0 Symbolic, (20)

If programs are not ready to play they should not play in the tournament and not get 0:0 result.

What does 0:0 result means? Does it mean a draw?Uri Blass wrote:Is this a serious tournament?

So why do you think it is strange that 5 and 18 games could not be draws? If indeed a 0:0 means a draw, because i suspect it does not mean a draw and it means that no program managed to play so it will not get any points.
In that case i agree that it is not good to play the tournament and the organizer should give more time to the authors to solve the problems.

I think that players who cannot be at least 99.9% sure of playing all rounds should not register in the first place and programs that do not showing up to play in the first round should not play in the tournament.bob wrote:it means both sides forfeited by not showing up to play on time. I dislike what I see because at least 3 of the favourites lost games for reasons that are not about chess.
one professional(Naum) lost round 1 because of not being able to play on time.
Now I see that fruit and Junior also lost games because of a similiar problems that based on my understanding are not software problems(I understood that Junior lost because of 2 disconnects and fruit lost because the machine crashed),

Re: CCT 10:Round 1 Pairings up!
Twisted Logic has had a bug in 2 games...I need to replace with slightly bug fixed one...Against Joker in a dead drawn position, at some point it plays at depth 1 and makes a weak move...and plays best rest of the moves...
against micromax..it crashes just before mate in 2...and when reconnected plays at depth 1 and draws the game even though it is mate in 2 with 2 queens.

Now I read that Glaurung beat Ikarus in the same way that it beat Junior.Uri Blass wrote:I think that players who cannot be at least 99.9% sure of playing all rounds should not register in the first place and programs that do not showing up to play in the first round should not play in the tournament.bob wrote:it means both sides forfeited by not showing up to play on time. The opponent disconnected twice.
If Glaurung can win the event thanks to these disconnections then it is clearly unfair(Junior had a winning position against Glaurung and Ikarus also had slightly better position).
It could be better not to allow
Junior and Ikarus to compete in the first place if they had no stable connection.
