I just played a couple of games on playchess , naum 3 beta vs quad core rybka

almost all games were draws ...

not bad for Naum , a very strong chess engine :D

will do more beta testing in coming days

Thanks to Alex (just glad to test his beta version on 8 cpu )

Hi Daniel,
I played on CSS Online masters with Naum 3 beta on my quad. The engine is really the closest to Rybka.
In my testmatches here (eng-eng, ponder off, same openings, 60 min +30) Naum 3beta reached 46% aganist Rybka 2.3.2a after 43 games now.

On my 8 cpu looks like very fast ...

don t know how much is the kn/s on quad , however on xeon it scale up over to 11 000 kn/s !!!!

19.2 ply; 11,819kN/ average on 1 game !!!

On some games on playchess , I even got more times than Rybka ...

mostly all games were draws

Probably the future of computerchess if all top 5 chess engine become stronger and stronger

Update after 28 games

Naum 3 Beta +7 - 6 = 15

14.5 pts

Rybka 2.3.2 +6 -7 = 15

13.5 Pts

Surprise Naum is still winning ....

I think after 50 games should be very close , Naum Scale better .However rybka is still Rybka an opponent over 3000 elo !!! (will post all the 50 games once test finish )

Great! And when this new Naum 3.0 will be available?

I guess Rybka 2.3.2 will end with around a 53% in favor of her(26.5-23.5) at the end.

I was sure that " Rybka will win 1 weeks ago " ...

However I m not sure now ... after see Naum 3 beta games

On quad , Rybka is still the strongest , Werner is still testing Naum 3 Beta on quad . Naum 46 % Rybka 53 %

However after 30 games here ... Naum is still winning :D

maybe the scaling factor is playing here ...

Zappa , Glaurung scale better on 8 cpu Than Rybka , and looks like than Naum 3 Scale better than Rybka too ...

I m sure sur Vas is working on this issue for Rybka

For Naum 3 beta there is still have some issue to solve
However, Naum 3 should be released soon ... like test are very good ...

If almost all games were draws, maybe Naum also is getting more FRUITY and more similar to Rybka, like for example Fritz 11 which differs from Fritz 10 very much but it has increased ponder hit with Rybka. I think most so called top engines like Fritz, Naum and others think that the only way to catch Rybka is to try to get eval function very close to Rybka's, that's why there are so many draws in matches against Rybka. Authors is trying to copy evaluation and it is not the best way for developing chess engines

This position has been taken from the match between Rybka 2.3.2a 64-bit 4 CPU and Zappa Mexico II 64-bit 4 CPU.
next move was 30. Rd2?? which led Rybka to severe defeat. The best reply to this move is 30... Rb5! which ends the game but this move is not so obvious for many top engines:
Chess Tiger 2007.1 found this move for 2sec.
Fritz 10 - 17sec.
Junior 10.1 - 17sec.
Zappa Mexico x64 - 25 sec.
Hiarcs 11.1 MP - 38 sec.
Bout let's look on FRUITY ENGINES which did not find this move quickly:

Rybka 2.3.2a X64 mp - 1 min. 48 sec.
Fruit 2.3.1 - 2 min. 21 sec.
Rybka 2.3.2а w32 - 3 min. 58 sec.
Loop 13.6 - 5 min. 21 sec.
Toga II 1.3.4 - 6 min. 45 sec.
Fruit 2.2.1 - 7 min. 21 sec.
Fritz 11 - 10 min. 56 sec.!!!

It seems very strange that all the engines which are suspected to be FRUITY behave very similar to each other. So I Think that the authors of the Loop nad Rybka should not say that their engines are not fruity. And behavior of Fritz 11 also is very suspicious :)
