Ok. Are you listening to music while your programming (at home or iTunes when you are away)? Or can't stand it?
I will start:
I listen Pop, Alternative, sometimes Rock. Easy things. Can't listen to "heavy stuff" like Hard Rock, Techno or classic while programming.
Things like Billy Joel, Elton John, REM, Midnight Oil, Pink Floyd etc.
What music do you listen while programming?

Re: What music do you listen while programming?
I guess my musical interests are already known, I've discussed them before here.
The last thing I listened to was the Allman Brothers. I listen to a whole lot of Frank Zappa. Besides that I like modern jazz, and some other stuff like Yes and the Talking Heads.

I voted for "Other (What?)" because the music i listen to, Country Music, is not in the list.

While programming I can listen to almost any kind of music. Usually I'm listening to Pop/Rock though. Yesterday I implemented some pawn race code (quadratic rule to be exact) and was listening to Madrugada (Industrial Silence) while doing so.

Normally I don't listen to anything, at least while thinking or in the design stage of something. But, I'm a huge Nine Inch Nails fan and will often listen to that while coding something up.Guetti wrote:Ok. Are you listening to music while your programming (at home or iTunes when you are away)? Re: What music do you listen while programming?
Usually there must be silence... so I like programming in the very early hours of the morning. There must be no distractions... especially phone calls.
Over the last 20 years only a few music albums are "programming compatible" for me.
Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
Cat Stevens - Tea for the Tillerman
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Joan Armatrading - Whatever's For Us
Split Enz - Second Thoughts (bizarre but I like it)
Jon Martyn - acoustic compilations
James Taylor - acoustic compilations
Pachelbel's Canon in D is very agreeable too but its just 1 song.
So, I guess its mainly folk and acoustic stuff with a bit of rock and classical.
Interesting poll!
