Arena 1.1 bug

Post by Philippe »

I use the latest Toga with Arena 1.1.
Each time I start a new game, I get the error message saying that the first move is illegal and it is adjudicated by arena as a win. So I have to restart toga for a new game.
Note this only happens with Toga 1.4 MP. No problem with others engines.

If it doesnt happen with other engines, applying common sense would give you the correct answer. It is a possible problem with Toga 1.4 Mp. I have seen that message before while using Zappa 1.1 as a UCI engine. It is most likely that Toga rejects a command send by arena so arena adjudicates the game.

This problem does not occur with the latest version of Arena (1.99b5). Maybe you can try to upgrade to this version ?

Hi,

Same problem here on Arena 1.99 beta 4.

As soon as book moves have been completed,
Toga II 1.4 beta 5c and Toga II 1.4.1 SE lose
games because of illegal moves.

Strange.

On the other hand, Toga II 1.4 beta 5c runs
smoothly on CB GUIs.

I am helpless as well.

Does other versions of Toga work with Arena on your computer ? Does it work if you disable the use of the book ?

Can you start a game with the "debug mode option" enabled in Arena ?
If you post the logs (the UCI interactions between the gui and the engine), maybe we can find something in order to solve your problem.

No problem here with either version. Run on both Arena
GUI. Now got games going between those two on Arena 1.1
Using Sedat book for Arena on one and H.S. book for the other.

Good luck,

Gerold.

So let me get this right. Exactly one engine is not working correctly under Arena, and you have concluded that the bug is in Arena?

I have run tens of Togas on Arena, CB, CP, SC
without problem up to the latest ones. I am now
running Toga II 1.4 beta 4a on Chess Partner 5.4.
So far without problem. After that, I'll run Arena
in debug mode with both Togas.

Give us more info, such as, are you using the original compile, amount of hash used etc..
