Hi all !
Now I have a lot of games of Naum 3 and a conclusion is clear for me :
this chess engine has a fast & deeply search function but a weak evaluation one.
In many games I don't see any move fated to avoit the weak pawns structures and a play bishop vs. knight lamentable.
More, I analysed some critical positions both with Hiarcs 11.2 & Zappa Mexico II ( my favorites in field) and the outputs were entirely different looking to Naum 3 outputs.
I can't say much more because I don't know which pruning functions uses this commercial Naum.....but seems to me Naum 3 has a great potential for further improvements.
....And sad for Alexandar Naumov to see his marvelous chess engine flying free all over the web from the first day !
Regards,
Sylwy

Only place was in my inbox with regard from Alex
Anyway, Alex's remark in another tread about Naum's strenght, indicate that those who came with sceptical comments wasn't on his list of buyers... Nah, not insinuating anything, but I suspect you're right - some people has it for free without the permission from Alex

I do not have naum and I am not planning to buy new commercial program that is not number 1 if I do not start some correspondence tournament and at this moment I play no correspondence games when using computers is allowed.
The fact that I did not buy naum is not personal against Alex Naumov
I also did not buy Fritz(after Fritz8) Shredder(after Shredder9) and Junior(after Junior9) and Zappa.
The only programs that I bought in the last 2.5 years are Fruit and Rybka
and one of the main reason is that I simply had a correspondence tournament at the time of their release.
I did not buy more programs because the difference between rybka and the rest was too high at that time.
If there is number 2 with a small difference from the first place I may buy it if I play a new correspondence tournament.
Uri

Seems to be what's said nearly each time a new commercial engine is released,
and Sylwy's remark for sure.

I'm a legal owner of the first two commercial versions (2.1 & 2.2-Naumov knows very well- so any insinuation) .And I'm not sceptical but realist. And I like to be realist even sadist-realist ! I think is a better way !

Not pirated (cracked). From yesterday morning the web is full with the original Naum 3 posted by a legal owner (I think ).The users of a such engine are a lot ! Be sure !

If the binaries are personalized Alex will at least be able to figure out where the binary came from originally.SzG wrote:How do you detect that a person is using pirated Naum?Sylwy wrote: ....And sad for Alexandar Naumov to see his marvelous chess engine flying free all over the web from the first day !

Hmm, Why won't you show us some examples to support your claim? I'd like to see how exactly it has an inferior evaluation function compared to other engines. Show us a few positions where it behaves funny in your opinion.Sylwy wrote:Hi all !

Hi !
Under normal circumstances your question was the best response to my post. But because the men like this H.Dinesen I'm nervous now. Not wonder for me why all the authors of important chess engines avoid now this club ( forum is not correct) !
Only because I like a lot the chess & the computer chess I remain here !
All the best,
Sylwy
