Hi Norm,

As you very well know, it's a great site you've made :-)

Only pity is the download via Rapidshare :(
I don't lnow if you know, but for each download - talking those under 100 Mb - they extent the time till you can get the next file. During a whole day I've downloaded 7 smaller files. It would probably have possible to get 2-3 more in this time, had I been persistenly watching for "my turn" all day.

Seems counterproductive to me, and it's the first time I've tryed to wait more than 30 seconds for a free download. Clearly the aim is to get people to pay to premium members, but with some very aggresive means.

Best to you, and thx for a nice site,
Henrik

Yes, Rapidshare and Megaupload are the worst free sites around (and sadly, the most popular.)

I recommend http://www.zshare.net/ (For files under 101MB, and it's free.)

Hi Henrik,

Thank You for the nice comments.

The download problem stems from my lack of space and monthly bandwidth provided by the Host Provider handling enginechess.com. My total web space in 730MB and my monthly bandwidth is 25GB. This is insufficient for the size of the files I am providing. After searching for many solutions I signed up with the host provider 1and1.com because of the 2.5GB web space and the 2500GB monthly bandwidth. What a joke they don't tell you until you sign up that the file size upload limit is 10MB which is useless for what I am providing. A person from Sofia Bulgaria ask for a file from the PAKserver that he had time-out problems and suggested that I upload the file to RapidShare for him, It worked. RapidShare allows for very large files that I could not otherwise provide at a responsible speed. All of the files are available at a miserable slow speed (usually 3kb) from the PAKerver. ftp://chess:chess@pakman.myftp.org

Thanks for the post, I am working on improving the server everyday

Hi,

I must be able to hotlink file from the enginechess.com website.
Thank for the Suggestion
Norm

From the FAQ files at zShare.net

* Can I hotlink the stuff I upload?

No. Being an Ad-Financed website, hotlinking is not allowed on any kind of files uploaded to our servers.

That means you don't link directly to the file, but you link to a page that gives you a direct link (so, you only have to click one more time and wait 20 seconds, much better than free rapidshare.)
