Close, darn close. You forgot about yourself

You are even better at guessing which member is gonna win than guessing which engine is going to win :) If you take Ulysses's suggestion in this thread, you'd do even better. You should get rid of that 'someone else picked the combo, so it's not mine' mindset(and compete with them on engine order, one on one, better order pick wins).

I just dont like picking the same engines others picked unless Its really that obvious. For once I changed my vote to something better.

Here is my cheat sheet...

Code: Select all

Deuterium06082504 0.0/0 · 0.00 2130 2214
WJChess 0.0/0 · 0.00 2188
GK_090 0.0/0 · 0.00 2229
RDchess 0.0/0 0.00 2197
Uralochka11b 0.0/0 · 0.00 2279
I decided to pick RDchess after I noticed that the latest version of Deuterium only had a rating of 2130..

Also, for some reason the weaker engines are much more predictable as opposed to the engines somewhere in the middle where every engine is rated 2500.

I guess I could have told you not to pick Requiem. Requiem doesnt have hashtables and its a very basic engine.

But I have to be able to do this on my own. This strategy gave me first place once, and 2 shared firsts, so I kept it, but I guess it's time for a change, there must be some strategy that gives consistent good results, and I ought to find it (I'm using very specific methods to pick the engines, it's just that they're flawed.)

You could check other rating lists such as WBEC, ChessWar, CCRL and CGET. I am more interested in testing weaker engines, so I usually know them rather well, provided that they have been around for a while.

Best,
Don't worry, my new strategy may actually be worse than this one ;)
