Oh yeah, from the engines that play "Computer like", Bright is for sure my favorite. It's also the engine with the highest percentage of decided games on my tourneys, so it could be said to be the opposite of Naum.

Alaric 707 also deserves a mention, another unique engine worth a look.

Great list, Ruxy. Thanks! :D Just curious, why Rebel 12 and not the latest Pro Deo? Is it that the former comes with GUI?

The GUI should not affect the playing style. Also, my favorite playing style is from Pro Deo 1.6 BETA, even though I think it's a version hard to get.

Not a problem if you are a member of Rocket forum..

Swami, Rebel 12 is the last commercial version of Rebel and I think it was the first public version of Rebel that supported WB. I do not own it, but heard good things about its playing style.

Just kidding about the rocket regards

Ed said that Pro Deo 1.0 is an improvement over Rebel 12, and I've never heard one rant about Pro Deo's playing style related to Rebel 12.

I bought Rebel 12 and I still use his interface for running tourneys, so it was a good buy.

So Rebel 12 comes with an interface other than Chesspartner??

Hi Swami !

No ! The GUI of Rebel 12 was an old version of Chess Partner ( Lokasoft ) adapted to the very interesting capabilities of this unusual chess engine ( the ChessPartner interface has been enhanced with an engine information window which provides detailed information about Rebels internal thinking process ).
The engine itself plays a magnificent chess. In endgame it's not a strong engine ( without TBS access , only internal BBS).Maybe the results weren't so great ( despite the fact that in epoch was a strong chess engine ) but its play ( sacrificial)is ravishing regardless of opponent. I like a lot this engine !
ProDeo is more strong but losted a lot of from the style of his little brother.

Ah! It's the first time I hear this, can you give an example? Being a Pro Deo fan and not noticing this change in style is worrying.
