Hi Folks:
I have been using the 4 disc set of tablebases put out by Chessbase that I had purchased back in 2001 (or 2002?). Anyways, I've long since lost the original disks after several moves, but I do have copies.
Does anyone know of a program I could use to check Tablebases for errors? I tried searching online but nothing popped out at me.
Thanks,
Matthew

The best program for testing your tablebases is Wilhelm!
Beneath checking for corrupted tbs files it has a lot of
of other nice features.

I couldn't get Wilhelm to work with Vista 64, so I used the program from http://md5summer.org/ It was easy to use. You can get the md5 sums from http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/tablebases-online/
Generally, if you have any corrupted files, the chess program (or the gui) won't run. If they load properly when a program starts, you're probably ok.

One more thing. If you're interested in tablebases, there's a good forum at http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discussion-board/ The activity is fairly minimal, but there's a lot of information in the old posts.

The author of the Frenzee chess engine has included an excellent tool for checking the errors in the TB in his download package....

Yes, that one is the best tbs. checker I know, with a Windows interface and very simple to use. It is included in the Frenzee Feb08 zip.
