ChessBase has an article by Larry on the recent match between Rybka and Dzindzi. I found it most interesting for the comments about the choices of opening:
Is it possible that some future Rybka will be able to give pawn and move at 40/2 to any human in the world with success? We are clearly not there yet, but I think this is a realistic goal. Not since Paul Morphy retired has anyone (or anything) offered pawn and move to any human alive, but perhaps it will happen again.

Andy.
Funny he should write this, I just started a pawn and move match with Zappa Mexico. Rybka 3 is playing Baleck. The Time control is 2hours pre side.

NO. that is not posibble.
I don´t lost against rybka if I have a pawn and move on handicap..
Really?...are u a GM and we are not aware of it??
i am a 2000 fide rated player and I can assure that I lose many games at 5' against Rybka without a ROOK !!

OFF course ¡ but the problem is the time... read correct the quote...
the strategy must be carefull when you have ventage material... change it

kaufman have his "evaluation" ponderation on +2 favor to rybka...
I don´t lost against rybka if I have a pawn and move on handicap..
that is not posible.
the problem in that match is that roman are un bad finnes ... I´m sure... a GM never CAN lost with that handicap. is a lot of ¡
I think you're wrong Oliver. It's not that far away from becoming reality.
Rybka 3 could beat many GMs already with those odds.
I am sure that ROMAN can do a lot of better... I think that roman have a bad day.... the programers know that that match would finished with a result complety diferent...
rybka have good lucky in that mathc... roman is very strong in that situation... but he need more finnes...
maybe would dificult win... but... lost ?¡ I think that a GM in good day... can not lost... and not win....
of course the first time control was very fast...
I will play with that handicap... I hope not lost .... ¡ XD.
alekkine said ( when he play versus capablanca ) I don´t know how I win, but I don´t know how I will lost....
alekkine win ¡ and more easy. that he was thinking...

the problem is not the handicap or odds...
you must think that if the horizont problem ply on chesstiger is on ( for example 15 plys ) and in rybke is on 18 plys...
rybka only need long combinations that tigger "not see"... a GM have not the same problem... ( and not is necesaru a GM. a lot of humans ) have not that problem
the strategy whit a "knignt odd ¡¡¡" is very simple ¡¡¡ onle need change all ¡¡¡
chess tiger and all engines don´t do any move that his evaluation = small that previus move... a human can change a lot of piece if he have a small odds for the end game... ( of course if a human player can the posibility that play a endd game with 2 paws odds DO that move. but a lot of engine not do a move if previos have a knignt and after combinations have "ONLY" two pawns... ( but we humans see that in the end game... that is a lot of ... )
the horizont problem... for the old engine... if that engine don´t see the victory force... don´t change a lof of piece...
