Shogi abit alien to me thats why i use the Chess variant of Shogi, Crazyhouse This variant is the best way to elimate draws!! Very tactical indeed, i use the old Sjeng interface to play it as the other interfaces are abit confusing

Any good websites or books to find out more on it that you recommend? Basic beginnger stuff for now, because I don't have a clue what the pieces are or how they move.

I don't know much about shogi other than the rules. Here are a few sites found with google. You can probably find others.

Now as to your program "TJshogi" is there a opening book for it and how do I configure your engine to use it?

TJshogi doesn't have an opening book. I think Spear (a strong engine) has one.

GNUShogi can run under WinBoard, using InBetween to swap the black and white commands.

I haven't heard of any tournaments between these particular programs.

H.G. Muller was able to make GNU shogi play under WinBoard, although it wasn't very straight forward, since GNU shogi is not really a WinBoard engine.
