A new upgrade for Fritz 11 GUI is available. Now Monte Carlo analysis is possible !

And shared analysis is also included.

So with this free upgrade, those who own chessbase GUIv11 (from fritz11) get the most advanced analysis tool in case they bought Rybka 3 as a bare UCI engine or bundled with the Aquarium interface .

Free gifts from Chessbase are not that frequent ...
... But this one is very significant IMHO

First of all as a feedback for all:

I went online on the server to update in the gui with F11. The answer was diisplayed, you have the newest version, but I knew that the newest could not be true.

Then I tried to execute your gui11.msn The reply was displayed that I already had a version of the program and I should delete mine with the systeminfomation.

Then I thought I click on the guiupdate although from 2007 and that brought me to a display if I wante to updatge NOW.

I clicked that and the process started. Then I looked what was changed in my GUI in F11 and saw that I had the shared analysis button but that one was already there before. The Monte Carlo Feature wasnt there.

Then I thought I must re-install Rybka 3 exe anf increase the cpu to two because of the Dual Core. But that brought me some Error messages.

---------------------

So my question is now what exactly must I do to get this special feature for 2 cpu analysis with two engines each on 1 cpu. I use win 32. XP.

Hi Rolf !

I use always the manual update.
1.Double-click on the previous gui11.msi-to remove this update;
2.double-click on the new gui11.msi ( you can preserve this .msi on a memory flash or on your HDD);
3.restart Fritz 11 GUI;
4.install Rybka 3 like main engine;
5.set-up a position;
6.tool(menu)/analyse/monte carlo........
7.set the parameters/OK
8.the result will be like ponders in .ctg format

That's all !

Regards,
Silvian

NB: if they are some problems tell me please.

I did the update but cant see Monte Carlo, only Shared Analysis but that was already there before.

Just for feedback I succeeded with Monte Carlo. The important thing to do also for others is to really get rid of the OLD service pack for F11 in thesoftware notification. And the you can just click on the downloaded gui11.msi. Works fine.

The below quote telling how to manually* update Fritz 10 comes from the December 2006 Steve Lopez ChessCafe article "Fritz 10 Installation Issues". I do not currently have Fritz 11 but wouldn't how to manually update Fritz 10 also apply to Fritz 11?

You can also manually download the service pack file here, and then place it into the folder:

C:\Windows\Application Data\ChessBase\Updates\

If you don’t have an \Updates folder at that location, just create one
manually. After the file has completely downloaded, you’ll need to run the IUPgrade.exe program to install the service pack. If you used the suggested default folder for your Fritz10 installation, the file will be found here:

C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram10

Otherwise it will be located in the folder you originally specified for Fritz10's installation. When you run the IUPgrade.exe file, you'll see the
"Update now" button appear on your screen. Click it and follow the
prompts as described above for an online upgrade.
* Before running manual updates I think the Fritz program needs to be closed.

Hi,

there seems to be even more good news. I tried some "regression tests" in order to provoke a GUI crash and failed;-) It's likely that this new GUI version has better UCI support. On the other side, in old Chessbase GUIs it was possible to change the engine settings during the game and force the engine to move. This feature, oops ... this bug is gone, too.

All the best!

Thanks for the link! I kept getting "program up to date" messages on Playchess when I quered update, the normal way to update, but by saving and running the windows installer you posted my Fritz 11 GUI updated to the Aug 21, 2008 date.

Hi!

It is better to remove all the Fritz 11 first, and start again and see if it is continue here or not, if it is still there on the folder, when you remove the folders: C: \ Users \ family Johansen \ AppData \ Roaming \ ChessBase and it is also a link to C: \ Program Files (x86) \ ChessBase. Be sure to keep in mind that you want to keep your folder, then you can cut and paste to a different place in order to avoid missing your folder.
Important: The new gui11 to leave the desktop. And start afresh again, and you should see if there is continue here or not. if not there, then you can use your orginial Fritz 11 (CD-ROM) to be set in and you should press the "Install". When Fritz 11 GUI arrange install.
Once that is done and start again. And you press note Fritz 11 Icon, and it came promote the name and number and one time password. You are in Fritz 11 on the side. You leave it again. You press the new version gui11, when gui11 installer. And it's all done, then you start again. Fritz 11 is much friskere than in the past. You can mark even after and before. Therefore, I recommend this. Yes, it requires time, but it's still! :-)

You can see a little different afterwards when you're done with the install the new gui11. :-)

Good luck!
