I promise you that you do not want to hear what they told me on a public forum.
I'm pretty sure we don't want to hear anything they have to say on any forum. But not for the reason you are implying...
Sic 'em on my code next, that ought to be good for a laugh, once the "professionals" figure out what I do and how, which might keep 'em busy for a while.
Rybka- 30 Crafty- 0 Exactly who would care about your code
Almost every programmer including the one who wrote the program you are comparing it to has studied Crafty. I am not 100% sure what Prof. Hyatts goal is with Crafty but the reality is that it is used as a learning tool for most programmers in computer chess.
Ryan, just a ballpark figure- but how much time would you guess Vas spent studying Crafty?
I'm still expecting a PM or an email with all of this... well, I'm not exactly sure what it is. But I am waiting...
Just think of me as an interpreter of motiff. (right or wrong, I do not judge)
George is saying that a wrong is being done to Vas and is trying to get you to realize it by doing something similar to you. That I believe is the point. IMO he is trying to help you to undrestand. He had nothing against you personally and would not harbor any ill feeling. George can correct me if I am wrong!
If you are on a sidewalk and the covid goes beep beep
Just step aside or you might have a bit of heat
Covid covid runs through the town all day
Can the people ever change their ways
Sherwin the covid's after you
Sherwin if it catches you you're through

As usual Michael- you think on your feet. Nothing to correct. Best to a good friend.

Good to see you back Mike..How about getting a new Romi version ready for the new edition of WBEC..I am not sure if you noticed, Romi is in a relatively easy group and shouldnt have much problems making it to the group promo with a 50 point improvement/ corrected ponder bug.

Terry
I agree, Zach has released the pretty decent open source program, and has been reasonable so far.
he doesn't deserve empty threats from some people who claim "imaginary" or "so-called anonymous" friend-programmers told them about his code offline. It's just pure utter nonsense.
I assure you they are not "imaginary"- about as far as you can get from that. Personally- i dont see anything wrong with: You attack my friend with foolish crap- prepare to be attacked yourself.
First: I don't know who these people are.
Second: How can I attack them If I don't know their names? or without knowing if it is true? It's not an attack.
Swami- you missed my point. I was referring to the attack on Vas when i made the above statement about "attack- be attacked"
Hi George,
Sorry for misunderstanding, but I don't see any attack on Vas's character although I have not read all of the posts, What I read so far are concerning the similarities of 2 engines, Mods have agreed to post the sticky notice "discussion is fine, libel not", so they must surely allow these discussion about similarities in code, no?
Swami, that is far from the issue as i see it. It has been stated more than once that the evidence is not fully there yet, but still being worked on. And it has gone so far as to have been said by Zach that it could go either way , IHO. Swami- it just doesnt work that way. FIRST- present your evidence- ALL you have. That is the starting point. Then you go from there. If the evidence is not ready, you dont drag someones commercial program thru the mud for 6 days while preparing this "so called " evidence.
That's simply wrong. It's an investigation. This is the place to discuss it.
There is evidence and you and others here are doing whatever they can to stop it.
When a crime may have been commited the system can't just sit on their hands, if it did, nothing would be resovled.
It also helps bringing this problem to the attention of other programers.

A post full of contempt coming from a member of one of the most respected rating list...
If you feel such disdain for Crafty or ZCT because of their strength, then what about all the programs that are below them in your rating list?
Is your respect for the programmers following the same scale as the CCRL list?
I'm really concerned by your attitude and what it reveals.

I do not think that you are right.
Today there are better free programs to learn from them.
I looked at the code but did not spend much time on it.
If I am going to spend much time on understanding some chess program it will probably be a better program.
Edit:Practically I spent time on understanding the evaluation of strelka and the move generator of strelka.
I do not claim to understand the search code of strelka or the search code of fruit.
