Convekta Web Site infected with Trojan/Virus

Post by daniel71 »

I went to the Convekta Website and signed in, to check on my order, and got this: Trojan-Clicker.HTML.IFrame.vg.
My anti-virus flagged it and could not delete it!! I had to delete this on boot-up from my Zone Alarm software.
Google has Convekta on a list as a site that will damage your computer!! Please if any Administrator sees this post please help Convekta with this Trojan/Virus.
I am scared to death my credit card numbers are compromised. I was wondering why my order was taking so long now this the least of my worries. I didn't have this until
I logged on be careful.

I wrote Convekta last night and they sent me a reply now they don't know about my order that I purchased off their website August 09, 2008 and told them that when I ordered on the 9th the screen for Internet Explorer went blank after I clicked to purchase: Upgrade Chess Assistant 10 mega package with Deep Rybka 3 and Gold Nalimov Tablebases and they wrote me back on the 9th saying this: Dear Sir Card will be charge on Monday DVDs will besent in the end of next week.
They didn't even address the issue about the Trojan/Virus, that I informed them about last night, so now I don't have the DVD's that I ordered, the website is infected so I'm not going to resend my order to them. I called my credit card company to watch my account and does anyone know who carries the Upgrade Chess Assistant 10 mega package with Deep Rybka 3 and Gold Nalimov Tablebases in the USA that I can order from?? Thanks Daniel Johnson

I tried to handle this nicely but I filed a complaint with Google and Stopbadware.org on Friday it looks like Google would not return search queries for the store.convekta for about 24 hours. The Federal Trade Commission only handles complaints against United States originating websites, since Convekta is in Russia they do not have jurisdiction, so after Google took action and did not get give search results for the webstore: store.convekta where I had lodged my complaint against, somebody took action and cleaned up the website store pages even though your could navagate to the Convekta store from the other sites like Rybka and ChessOK sites at that time. I don't expect anyone connected with Convekta to acknowledge there was a Trojan/Virus on the secured sever for the store and few or for that matter no one here appreciates what I have done to correct this situation I am happy to accomplish part of my mission and at least made them get the mal-ware off the website; after I checked Sunday morning at 0200 CST on 08/31/08 the Convekta Store appears to be clean! Its a shame when something makes someone else be inconvenience and lose money and time thats fine,
but when they start losing money about a problem then their priorities completely change. I would recommend watching your credit card statement if you ordered directly off the store.convekta. site for 6 months for fraudulent charges stemming from this Mal-Ware software that I bought to everybodys attention...

Hello Everybody,

I posted this on the Rybka website forum and wanted everybody to know that the store.convekta.com secured sever had a security breech and had a Trojan/Virus software installed on it. They have fixed the problem now that I basically made them fix the mal-ware that was on their server. You can see all the replies on the other website: http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... l?tid=6832

Also, the Trojan/Virus corrupted my Webroot Spysweeper software I cannot use it now or reinstall it. Cannot be uninstalled by the control panel so the newest version cannot completely be reinstalled, even after I manually deleted the program file for SpySweeper. Will have to reinstall Windows XP. I don't think Zone Alarm anti-virus completely deleted the Virus because some program keeps using generic host process to establish an outside connection even when not connected to the internet and then has 10 to 20 attempts, in a split second, by changing the ports used.

The best solution would be to formate the hard disk and make a clean XP installation....
Believe me,you'll never get rid of the damn thing....

Sorry to see you have to fdisk your HD to solve this problem. I learned a long time ago to utilize a trojan remover program (http://www.simplysup.com/) with my AV program. AV programs sometimes don't handle trojans very well and they'll slip through.

Or he could just do a quick file repair with sdfix.exe. That eliminates pretty much anything that I encouter or my technicians encounter on a daily basis.

You _do not_ have to format a computer to rid it of trojans/malware.

Use effective tools, then patch the system. Make sure your Java and Flash are up to date, and all Windows Updates are applied. Then install something like Kaspersky Anti-Virus or NOD32 Anti-Virus for protection.

It really is that simple.
I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Get the AVG or Avast Anti Virus.. Also don't forget to use the system store to restore your system back to the day when there was no virus in the system.
