i imagine your Resurrection is I and not II?
in this case there should be no real match as the Revelation is running on hardware almost twice as fast as Res I

its possible Lars is using the Res II which would be the same hardware as Revelation..ergo..my question

i do wonder however ..if same hardware..why the same engine in a match?

when i said it should be no real match..i did not mean that you should not have this match..i meant that it would not be a real fight because perhaps the hardware is not similar for similar engines(twice as fast)

i only asked if you are using Res I or Res II
if Res II then i am wondering why you choose the same engine
i know i certainly find your matches regarding dedicated computers very interesting and your posts are always the first i read when you post dedicated computer matches

Sorry for the hasty conclusions. My post was just a quick reaction on having to stand up and explain one to many of the selected meetings. Sometimes it feels really pointless to waste mine and others time with publishing games in meetings where the only reaction seems to be negative or posts questioning it all. When it's a manually played meeting these reactions makes publishing of the games even less inspiring, since already playing those games takes eons compared to automatic testplay.
I don't need lots of positive responses and also don't mind if there are none responses. As long as there is some interest in the games, I could post them. If not, then why bother?

As it's perhaps not clear what our policys are, here are some quick excerpts:

* We never testplay the same machine (with same hardware that is) and program against each other. Sometimes though we have tested the same program on different hardware, as this meeting is an example of. I don't feel like I have to justify every aspect of our testing just because I have choosed to publish the games. If the conditions really are that unfair, please ignore the whole meeting.
* We testplay machines of different speeds against each other. Otherwise it would have been impossible to have produced a list in the first place. I guess a separate list for all hardware would have been pointless and of lesser intrest, for instance a separate list for 6502, 68000, 68020, 486DX-33, Z80, Pentium 90 and so on.
* I have only one Res 1 and one Res 2 (aka revelation-hardware) to testplay with. All meetings between programs on the same hardware, for example: Program A Res 1 - Program B Res 1, are therefore impossible.
