it is very nice you are interested to confirm or reject your initial thinking and thanks for the registration (even free). We are right now uploading the entire A00 Irregular Openings /Orangutan-Sokolsky and other openings within the A00. It's 52,000 games altogether. Not much one may say, but very CONTROVERSIAL. It is part of the Opening Master released for free for people like you non-believers.

In regards to Rybka. Well, this is so far the best engine ever lived BUT (there is always but) it is not easy to configure. I agree the 3.0 had problems and could imagine few people getting heart attacks. This was very well listened by Convekta people and the new update 3.05 is working just fine. Give it a try once more.
However the latest release of CB 10, now this is a scandal so many bugs we found inside, that really we are considering to stick with CB 9 for a while which works great.

To explain the story about Rybka DB, perhaps you misunderstood our intention. The data / games which we had under CB, were manually migrated into Rybka environment. We don't sell it separately or as a different thing, it is just alternative for somebody who prefers Rybka environment. Nothing more. And since you have the year membership you don't need to worry about whether it's Rybka or CB, you just download everything.

The Opening Master is unique collection of quality selected games registered in European Union (so far) as a database package. There is no copyright on individual games. You may view it for each possible angle.

PS. Thanks for the offer of reviewing meta problems of the Opening Master chess business, much appreciated. Can you send us via this post or private message your credentials (e.g. ELO, rankings, organization/association/tournaments etc...) you are definitely very active member of this forum but that is what we know so far about you...
Hi Alexander, let me please give you a big compliment because besides Bob Hyatt you as a non-native speaker are the seldom case of someone who - despite my bad and rough English - looked through the value basically of what I said without taking offense by some perhaps not so diplomatic expressions. Perhaps you knew it already that I am a psychologist what has two issues, I mainly like to have exchanges and reactions in the communication and my own speech is only intended to get such answers. So different to most people I dont care much about the style because I dont make impression on others. Basically I seek someone who understands what I have to give even if I am a lay like here in CC tech. Second issue is that I dont really need another job or the money. In your case I am much to low situated in my own chess talents. So, everything what you got here was from someone who really likes to look from the outside on whatever special stuff, but without that dangerous blindness of the insider view. So all depends of the expert who is strong enough to allow counter views and that even from the outside. IMO leading to a better creativity in a field where I dont even know the technical subtleties. Since I came into the net community in 1996 reactions on me were ranged from shock, disbelief, denial, to contempt, minority feelings and ignorance.

My typical strength is visible when I admit own failures or oversights. E.g. I didnt know until you mentioned it that Rybka 3 already had a new version .5. I cant believe it. I dont even know where to get it. I bought the engine on the net so perhaps you are talking about the whole prog with GUI. Please give me a link for a download if also the naked engine is updated - IF you have the time for such little problems. Thanks so much.

Alexander, I dont test engines against each other like all others of the community. I'm a typical patzer who likes to analyse his own games from decades ago now with my new GM friend! A cool sensation.

But hey, no way, that I could ever live with a female computer machine what Levy foresees. <smile>

Hi Rolf,
one more thing regarding the Rybka. apologies I meant the Aquarium GUI which was released with 1,05 version now and which has much more stability than the original patch. The updated came only to the registered/paid (I know you don't like that word) members. And now it runs only perfect. The similar problems had CB Fritz GUI so they had to release the patch for it.
There is no direct link, only those which are publicly available Rybka 3 and Aquarium GUI.

Again, apologies with the numbering confusion, have too many versions with too many numbers on it.

Best regards
Alexander
