It seems that both sides made mistakes.
Yes, Susan is critical of White's play around move 42, 43, 44, 45. I only watched the game later on Playchess, a computer program analyzing gives Kosteniuk the advantage but there is no progress in the scores. So the programs are of limited use to judge the endgame, but I could not see any way foward. Usually I understand nothing about Rook endgames though. And I believe Susan is something of an endgame specialist! Judith is also very tough to beat in an endgame. It's often the hallmark of a true champion. I'm glad that it seems Judith will not be alone anymore in a class of her own for women's chess. Alexandra Kosteniuk has also made more progress than I thought she would a couple of years ago, she has become really good!

So nobody understood how brave and ingenious Hou played that game for the second time right now. The first game, people suffer of too weak longterm memory as it seems, was normally won for Hou. In my books if both couldnt win their won games, but Hou failed only 1 time, then Hou must be the better practical player of the two. She will win tomorrow(today) and then also fantastically win in the ties.

As a true computerchess freak I must make a confession. In too many cases Hou played exactly what Rybka advised and that were difficult moves. So what is with this metal radio receiver, Hou wears on her head? Just asking.
This is a serious accusation Rolf,do you have any scientific proof for this nonsense :!: :?:

P.S.You can get your @ss sued by China for this statement....

In too many cases Hou played exactly what Rybka advised and that were difficult moves.
The reason for this is clear: Rybka is a Hou clone!!! I demand Rybka open its source code to prove this is not the case .

That is called a fashion statement Rolf. I liked her Dolce & Gabana outfit!

We've come a long way since the days of Mao, conspicuously absent at the Olympic games too.

And so we contemplate chess, on the day we can watch CNN and see that Wall Street is still in turmoil, Black monday 15/11 2008 will probably have worse an economic impact than 9/11 had seven years ago. Lehmann Brothers are bankrupt, Merrill Lynch bought by Bank of America in the same weekend to prevent a collapse of that bank .

But AIG, American Investment Group, one of the largest insurers in the States, is next in line, and deep in financial troubles. Will it get a loan from the Federal Reserve? That is the rumour, and the FED left interest rates unchanged today as another measure it could have taken. I really know not much about finance at all, but am just asking myself, how many bail outs can the FED afford to do? Next will be likely Washington Mutual, or WAMU. On the exchange floor they do not think AIG will be the last to fall, but everybody is nervously waiting what happens with AIG. No news about it today and stocks slightly recovered on Wall Street, but I think it is not over yet.

Will McCain or Obama be able to sort out the mess? Well, they just will have to don't they? But this being partly to blame to a government that financed a war with a Bubble market, with mortgaged assets that vaporized when the economy got worse, with an enormous state deficit that now makes it hard to manouver around the deregulation disaster that the same government is to blame for, who are you going to vote in seven weeks? Please Americans, think twice, thrice, think four times before you answer :!:

I admit yes for once this is ever so slightly off topic, but this a special day.

And we can still play some chess, chess does not cost that much fortunately :)

Regards, Eelco
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

A tan and a professional waxing will further her career as well as women's chess. Hopefully, chess in general. After all, the biggest fan of women's tennis and women's beach volleyball are men. Come on, now! Who hasn't been inspired to head to the beach and whack a ball over a net since the Summer Olympics?

Note: This is a joke. This is only a joke. If this were a serious paragraph, you would have been notified by the authorities.
