I guess that Revelation is a very weak hardware and I expect Rybka2.2 on P90 to perform better
the hardware is an Xscale PXA255 processor-500 Mhz-32MB Dram(8-16 is used for Hash Tables)

it is the strongest hardware ever used in a dedicated chess computer and this rating(with the Rybka engine) is the highest rating ever achieved by a dedicated computer by more than 100 elo
it is also a beautiful hand crafted wooden board..tournament sized with magnificant wooden pieces which can be connected to a PC and any UCI engine can be played through the Rev at the speed of the host computer(via Blue tooth)

Deep Sjeng 3 has also been released for the Revelation and although it has no rating yet i think perhaps it will have a 2600 rating

I believe that the 500 mhz in the hardware is clearly misleading and it seems to me that it caused the programmer of telepath to get wrong conclusions in another thread.

From the ssdf list:

28 Rybka 1.0 beta 128MB K6-2 450 MHz 2775 64 -69 115 38% 2859
61 Revelation Rybka 2.2 2653 69 -62 126 68% 2519

450 mhz of old free weaker rybka is clearly stronger and probably even 200 mhz of free old rybka is slightly stronger than the revelation.

Uri
what is this rating list number of 61??

perhaps it is not for the Revelation but for the Resurrection which runs on a 203 Mhz Strong Arm Processor?

these words from the Chairman of the SSDF
quote:

Chairman Thoralf Karlsson : 'Two new modules for the old chess computers Mephisto Modular, Exclusive and München have been tested. The first which we tested was Resurrection Rybka 2.2 with a StrongArm-processor running on 203 MHz. It got a rating of 2488. The same program with a XScale-processor at 500 MHz is called Resurrection II (module) or Revelation. The result of the faster processor is 165 extra rating points! A rating of 2653 makes Revelation Rybka 2.2 the strongest traditional chess computer!

Uri,
If you look at the CCRL 40/40 rating page and click on "complete list",
you'll see a rating for Rybka 2.2 32 bit.
Rybka 2.2 32-bit 2988 +18 −18 70.4% −139.4 36.6% 1149
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/40 ... t_all.html

This is 12 pts higher than Rybka 1.2 (CCRL). Supposedly the only difference
between the CCRL numbers and the Revelation is the hardware.

Thus, my statement (in the other thread) holds: the speed was likely
the issue. Speed isn't everything in achieving better ratings, but it seems
to be the dominate issue in this case.

As Sam experienced, so have I. Telepath has won a few games off of
Rybka on ICC when it was being run on slow hardware.
