Will old ChessBase Software like Fritz 8 (2002) up to Shredder 8 (2004) work with this OS?

If I could help you I would, but I don't use vista (yet).

I'll see if I can find out from other CCRL testers, but different time zones might mean a delay in reply.
Hopefully somebody else will answer in the meantime.

Cheers, Graham.

But it came out when Vista came out right? Certainly XP 64 was available.

These programs are way before Vista any edition let alone 64bit.

I'm not sure if XP 64 was available even for the last program on my list, Shredder 8? Maybe it was but ChessBase was more likely concerned with regular XP.

Fritz 8, none of these programs were out. So I don't know nor do I want to experiment with it beforehand.

I want to know, thanks! And thanks for repling.

Dear Terry,

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit with many 32 bit apps including Shredder 8 and Fritz 10. The nice thing about this OS is that it allows you to use more than 4 GB of RAM. You will need to buy the top of the line Vista Professional if you want to use 128 GB of RAM. I do well with 4 GB. In the future I will get another 4 GB. More is not necessarily better though. If your RAM is too fast and you have insufficient cooling of that RAM then you will get system failure.

Thanks for your reply Tim. No, I won't be planning on 128 Gigabytes of Ram any time soon, in fact this cheap piece of plastic is only expandable to 8 Gigabytes  I've only 4. It's a cheap HP Pavilion...gotta take what I can...sigh...
