After seeing that Crafty is in your division three, I am glad that Romi is not in division three..Romi doesnt stand a chance against some of these engines, unless its a head to head 100 game match with learning turned on.

I would be willing to predict that the new Romi pre alpha version that I am testing now, would finish in the upper half. Maybe, even as high as 5th!

Or maybe not. Just too early to tell. But, it is looking as though Romi might be on the way to a big improvement. Why? I,ve switched over to working on the eval.

Great news Michael :D
Your pgn file is ready and kicking for a new opening book,so whenever you're ready with a public release,buzz me please :mrgreen:

P.S.I was willing to update the opening book for the last public release,but it's way too complicated to do....so,either you post here a step by step the making process,or I can send you the pgn file to make it yourself....I'll be glad if the opening book is both compaitable with the old and the new upcoming Romi....

Hi Graham,

Sorry to hijack your div. 3 thread when Romi is not even playing! Just blame Tony!! :lol:

Hi Dr. D.

I am glad that you are still interested in supporting RomiChess despite my slow progress and Romi's less than stellar performance with any given opening book. I hope that the following two results give a good feeling for some optimism.

My head is in a bit of a fog right now so I wont venture an interpretation of what these 1+1 results might mean for Romi, but if anyone else would like to speculate ...

(note: Romi played at this level against Hamsters on an Athlon 3400+. When I switched to a Core 2 machine the % dropped to about 58%. So this result is a big gain for the Core 2!)
RomiChess96 - Hamsters2 : 70.5/100 60-19-21 (1==0=1111=11101101111=1011011110111111=0=0=1111=1001100===110111111=1111001=11110011111===11101==0==) 71% +156

(note: RomiChess P3j version and below would only score about 6% against Glaurung 1.21 32 bit (I still need to test P3k against 1.21)
RomiChess96 - Glaurung-32bit : 35.0/100 27-57-16 (00100=11=010001000=1=00000100=00000100=000001111=0100=00=110=01011=00101001=0=0010100000010011=1=0=0) 35% -108

Edit: Just in case anyone wonders about the 96, it means that this version has a 32 bit hash key and a seperate 64 bit hash signiture for a total of 96 bits.
