I thought that Kramnik was Dead.............................

I thought that Kramnik was Dead, since he has NOT participated in too many tournaments as Kasparov did when he was champion. Did he really needed all that time to prepare against Anand :?:

More likely not to divulge any opening secrets he may have, he either limits his number of tournaments or plays inferior opening lines on purpose.Back in Kasparov time, theory was less evolved and only the rich and dedicated chess player could compete with him on theory.Today any new novelty is put under the silicon microscope and is quickly revealed as good or bad.
Both Kramnik and Anand could have this excuse because ther most recent tournaments have seen both of them down the field, I wonder why?
